Good News: Tai Chi Grows New Neurons in Your Brain

Today I found an interesting article in The Mindset, by Super Age, a new publication designed to help you unlock your potential and live longer and healthier at any age. It has been found that the slow movements of Tai Chi and
Qigong actually grow new neurons in your brain. The article states that “The movements increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in middle-aged and older adults. Why does that matter? Because BDNF is like Miracle-Gro for your brain.”

This is based on a new meta-analysis in the Journal of Exercise Science & Fitness which pulled together data from 11 randomized controlled trials and found that traditional Chinese exercises (TCEs),  Tai Chi and Qigong, significantly increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in middle-aged and older adults. Why does that matter? Because BDNF is like Miracle-Gro for your brain. It helps grow new neurons, repair old ones, and keep your cognitive functions sharp as you age.

Studies link Tai Chi to

1. Improved Working Memory and Executive Function

2. Reduced Inflammation Markers Impacting Brain Health

3. Better Sleep, Supporting BDNF Production and Memory Consolidation

Many of us are concerned about cognitive decline as we age. This is particularly good news!  And you can get the benefits in 20-40 minutes of Tai Chi a few times a week. Wow!  Here’s an easy way to get started.  Get your video now and start tomorrow.
